Travels, travels.
Traveling is going to see elsewhere, driven by curiosity, by the desire for another world than your own, not necessarily far away; it's going towards beauty.
These journeys can go down many different paths, and some media act as gateways to explore these other worlds. Personally, I really enjoy diving into three of them: photography, novels, and movies.
Taking a photo or immersing oneself in a photo taken by someone else means seeing the world differently, entering another universe, sharpening one’s vision, seeking beauty even when it is hidden, allowing oneself to be surprised by a different angle, an unusual perspective, a light, a gaze: it is about telling a story other than the one right in front of us.
Reading also allows these journeys to infinity when the plot is unpredictable and the writing is beautiful: then one is surprised, carried away. One can be a man, a woman, a child, a dog, or an object, anything is allowed. One can live in the now, yesterday, or tomorrow. A book is a companion that needs neither network nor electricity.
As for cinema, which combines image, the photographic and aesthetic aspect being very important, the script and sound, it provides the same pleasure of escape. The here and now fade away: we have a thousand lives, a thousand identities, a thousand countries, a thousand languages.
In this way, one can push back the walls that confine and open oneself to other horizons.
